Sirputis two-stage seaweed processing line
Programme 03 · Governments, investors & industry

03 — Ocean Circular Hub

A modular seaweed processing hub at regional scale — investment-ready and revenue-generating.
€0.5m–3m · 12–24 months
Sirputis supports the transition from pilot to a fully operational, investment-ready, revenue-generating seaweed industry.

What we do

  • Deploy modular biorefinery infrastructure (reception, washing, extraction, drying, packaging)
  • Scale processing to industrial capacity
  • Develop supplier and aggregation networks (community-based sourcing systems)
  • Implement standardized quality systems (incl. basic QA lab setup)
  • Establish logistics, storage, and effluent handling systems
  • Support certification and compliance (if required)
  • Expand product portfolio (3–5 scalable products)
  • Enable market integration and off-take partnerships (B2B, export)
  • Measure economic, social, and environmental impact
  • Structure financing and investment cases for scale-up

Why Sirputis

Seaweed harvest at sea — conveyor lifting kelp aboard
  1. 01

    End-to-end delivery

From pilot to full-scale operations — equipment, infrastructure and operating systems.
  2. 02

    Technically realistic scaling

Built on machines we manufacture — not just strategy documents.
  3. 03

    A clear pathway to investment

Bankable cases, measurable impact, long-term growth.

Sized within the resource

01 · Standing biomass

What the coast holds — surveyed or modelled per site and species. Example: Norway's Laminaria hyperborea forests ≈ 60 million tonnes.

02 · Sustainable harvest

The fraction that can be taken with regrowth intact. Example: 150–180 kt/year in Norway, 0.25–0.30% of the stock, fields regrown in 3–5 years.

03 · What the plant takes

Programme capacity is set inside line 02, never above it. Example: a 6,000 t/y plant fed entirely from that harvest would take 3.3–4% of it.
Every programme is capacity-matched to the resource assessment before a machine is specified — the Sirputis biorefinery design tool computes these three lines per site. Sources: Vea & Ask 2011, J. Appl. Phycol.; Norwegian Blue Forests Network kelp brief. Full worked example →
